Transfer License

Steps

1. Submit Your Application ▾
   Apply through the Board of Licensed Dietitians. The application fee is $50.
2. Provide License Verification ▾
   Oregon requires official verification of your active out-of-state license. This must be sent directly to the board from your current state board or its official online verification system before your file can be considered complete.
3. Provide CDR Registration Verification ▾
   Proof of active registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
4. Request Official Transcripts ▾
   Sent directly from the university showing your conferred degree.
5. Provide Background Check Authorization ▾
   Fingerprint cards and authorization for the HLO background check.
6. Complete Fingerprinting and Background Screening ▾
   Oregon requires a criminal background check for all applicants. Out-of-state applicants can use IdentoGO Out-of-State Live Scan (adds ~$39.95 fee) OR FD-258 hard card via mail (tip: moisturize hands for days prior to reduce smudge rejects). Completing prints outside Oregon can add 2-4 weeks to your processing time.
7. Await Board Processing ▾
   Plan for a processing timeline of about 3 to 4 Weeks once your file is complete.
8. Gather Required Documentation ▾
   Prepare official transcripts from your degree program, verification of your CDR registration, and any other supporting documents as outlined by the Board of Licensed Dietitians.
9. Register for an Account ▾
   Create a user account on the Oregon Health Licensing Office (HLO) Online Licensing System at https://hlo.oregon.gov/OnlineLicensing/ by clicking 'Register Here'.
10. Board Review and Approval ▾
    The Oregon Board of Licensed Dietitians, managed by the HLO, will review your complete application and documentation. You will be notified of the decision and next steps once processing is complete.

Keeping Your License Active

Oregon Dietitian licenses renew Annual + 15 CE hours (plus 1 hr cultural competency every other year). Contact the Board of Licensed Dietitians for continuing education requirements and renewal deadlines.
