How to Get Licensed in Oregon

Complete Education & Supervised Practice

Earn a master's degree or higher from an ACEND-accredited program. Complete 900+ hours of board-approved supervised practice or an accredited dietetic internship.

Pass the CDR Examination

Successfully pass the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) national examination.

Submit the Application and Background Check

Apply through the Oregon HLO. You must undergo a fingerprint-based criminal background check specifically for the Oregon HLO.

Provide Documentation

Submit verification of your passing CDR exam score (or active registration), official college transcripts, and verification of any out-of-state licenses held.

Provisional Practice & Reciprocity

Provisional Rules
Oregon does not typically offer a temporary license for dietitians. Applicants must have completed the CDR exam and hold a degree before full licensure is granted.
Reciprocity & Endorsement
Applicants currently licensed in another state may apply via reciprocity by submitting the standard application, fee, and an official Verification of Licensure from their current state board. The applicant must still have active CDR registration.
