Transfer License

Steps

1. Submit Your Application ▾
   Apply through the New York State Board for Dietetics and Nutrition. The application fee is $115.
2. Provide License Verification ▾
   New York requires official verification of your active out-of-state license. This must be sent directly to the board from your current state board or its official online verification system before your file can be considered complete.
3. Request Official College Transcripts ▾
   Must be sent directly from your degree-granting university to the NYSED.
4. Provide CDR Certification Verification ▾
   Proof of active registration sent directly from the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
5. Provide Child Abuse Training Certificate ▾
   Certificate of completion for the mandatory NYS child abuse identification coursework.
6. Complete Fingerprinting and Background Screening ▾
   New York requires a criminal background check for all applicants. Out-of-state applicants can use IdentoGO Out-of-State Live Scan (adds ~$39.95 fee) OR FD-258 hard card via mail (tip: moisturize hands for days prior to reduce smudge rejects). Completing prints outside New York can add 2-4 weeks to your processing time.
7. Await Board Processing ▾
   Plan for a processing timeline of about ~6 Weeks once your file is complete.
8. Create NY.gov Account and Link Records ▾
   If you don't have one, create a NY.gov account. Then, link your existing NYSED Office of the Professions records to your NY.gov account via the NYSED Online Applications portal to prepare for your application.

New York Dietitian licenses renew Every 3 years. Contact the New York State Board for Dietetics and Nutrition for continuing education requirements and renewal deadlines.
