Missouri Dietitian License Types

Licensed Dietitian (LD)

The standard credential to practice dietetics in Missouri. Applicants must hold current CDR registration (RD/RDN), be at least 21 years old, and be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in Missouri.

How to Get Licensed in Missouri

Obtain CDR Registration

Complete an ACEND-accredited degree program and 900+ hours of supervised practice. Pass the CDR Registration Examination for Dietitians. You must hold active CDR registration before applying for Missouri licensure.

Create a MOPRO Account

Register for an account on the MOPRO online portal (Missouri's Professional Registration Online system), available since January 2025 for application and license management.

Submit the Application

Complete the online application through MOPRO. Pay the non-refundable $50 application fee. Include your CDR registration card number and academic transcripts.

Provide Supporting Documentation

Submit a copy of your current CDR registration card, official academic transcripts from your degree-granting institution, and verification of supervised practice completion.

Application Checklist

  • CDR Registration Card Copy of your current, active Commission on Dietetic Registration (RD or RDN) credential.
  • Official College Transcripts Sent from the degree-granting institution showing completion of an ACEND-accredited program.
  • Supervised Practice Verification Documentation of completed ACEND-accredited dietetic internship hours.
  • Background Check Authorization Completed authorization for the state background screening process.

Provisional Practice & Reciprocity

Provisional Rules
Missouri does not currently offer a provisional or temporary dietitian license. Applicants must hold active CDR registration before applying for state licensure.
Reciprocity & Endorsement
Missouri does not have a formal reciprocity agreement with other states. Out-of-state dietitians must apply for a new Missouri license through the standard application process. Holding current CDR registration (RD/RDN) satisfies the core requirements. Note: Missouri is actively pursuing the Dietitian Licensure Compact (Senate Bill 412/1339), which would enable interstate practice without additional licenses if enacted.
Travel Dietitian Timeline
If your assignment start date is within 5 weeks, apply immediately and call the board at (573) 522-3438 to confirm current processing times.

Note: Missouri does not offer a standard provisional license, so your license must be issued before your first day.

Renewal Requirements

Missouri dietitian licenses renew every 2 years (by april 1, even years) — no ce required. Renewal fee is $20.
