How we check this

Every requirement we publish is read off the issuing board's own pages and dated. Here is the method, and the limits of it.

Sourcing

Each requirement on a state page carries the board page it came from and the date we last read it. We link the board page directly rather than summarising a summary. Where a board states something in an administrative rule rather than a web page, we cite the rule section.

What we do not claim

Where a board publishes nothing, the page says so instead of substituting a number from elsewhere. Three recurring cases:

• Processing times. Most boards publish no endorsement turnaround. Where one exists we quote and attribute it; where it does not, the requirement row reads Not published. Third-party turnaround figures are not board commitments and are not repeated here as though they were.
• Temporary practice permits. Some boards mention permits without publishing eligibility criteria or duration for endorsement applicants. We will not describe a permit as a dependable bridge to a start date on that basis.
• Compact membership counts. Board pages sometimes contradict themselves on how many states participate in a licensure compact — in one case giving a different number in the prose and in the comparison chart on the same page. We link the compact’s own map rather than pick a side.

Dates

The date on a row is the date we read that board page, not the date the board last changed it. A row can be correctly dated and still be behind a board action taken this morning. Treat the date as the age of our reading.

Corrections

Requirements and fees change by board action or legislation, sometimes without notice. If a page disagrees with the board, the board is right. Send it to corrections@statelicensingreference.com and we will re-read the source and re-date the row.

Who issues licenses

State Licensing Reference is an independent publisher. It is not a licensing board, is not affiliated with any board, and has no role in — or channel into — any licensing decision. Applications, fees, and application status are handled by the issuing board alone.
