What You'll Need

• Proof of Training — Certificate from CODA-accredited program or documentation of on-the-job training hours.
• DANB Certification — Official CDA certification from the Dental Assisting National Board, if applicable.
• Radiography Certification — Proof of radiography competency/certification required for taking x-rays.

How to Apply

1. Create Account and Submit Online Application ▾
   Visit the Kansas Dental Board Online Services portal (kansas.professions.kcc.ks.gov), create a new user account, and then complete and submit the Expanded Duty Dental Assistant (EDDA) application form online.
2. Submit Required Documentation ▾
   Upload proof of graduation from a CODA-accredited dental assisting program OR documentation of at least 1,000 hours of clinical practice as a dental assistant and completion of a Board-approved EDDA course. Additionally, provide proof of current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification, and verification of training for each specific expanded duty (e.g., coronal polishing, sealants, nitrous oxide monitoring) you intend to perform.
3. Pay Application Fee ▾
   Remit the non-refundable $75 application fee directly through the Kansas Dental Board Online Services portal upon submission of your application.
4. Pass Jurisprudence Examination ▾
   Access and successfully complete the Kansas Jurisprudence Examination, which is typically available through the Kansas Dental Board Online Services portal once your application is submitted.
5. Board Review and Approval ▾
   The Kansas Dental Board will review your complete application and all submitted documentation. Upon successful verification and approval, your EDDA registration will be issued.
