Slow Downs
Incomplete Documentation
▾
Missing transcripts or ACEND verification statements are the most common causes of delay. Ensure all third-party documents are sent directly to the Board.
Paper Application Submission
▾
The Board no longer accepts paper applications. Any paper forms mailed to the office will be returned to the sender, causing significant delays.
Notarization Errors
▾
The Citizenship Affidavit must be notarized. Failure to have the document properly notarized or failing to include a copy of your ID will stall the process.
Out-of-State Verification Delays
▾
Waiting for other state boards to send license verifications can take several weeks. Request these as early as possible.
Questions
Do I need a Georgia license if I am already a Registered Dietitian (RD)?
▾
Yes. Licensure is mandatory in Georgia to practice dietetics or use the title 'Dietitian.' National registration (RD) alone does not grant the right to practice in the state.
How many continuing education (CE) hours are required for renewal?
▾
Licensed Dietitians must complete 30 hours of continuing education every two years. As of January 1, 2026, all CE must be reported through CE Broker.
When does my Georgia dietitian license expire?
▾
Licenses expire on March 31 of even-numbered years (e.g., 2026, 2028).
Is there a provisional permit available?
▾
Yes. A provisional permit may be issued to applicants who have met all requirements except the CDR exam. It is valid for one year and requires supervision by a Georgia Licensed Dietitian.
What is the application fee for a new license?
▾
The initial application fee is $85, which includes a $10 processing fee. All fees are non-refundable.
